Green Lantern #40 Review
One of the great strengths of the GL line is how readily it switches up its lead. Right now that’s Kyle Rayner, and #40 is the payoff issue his run has been building toward.

Verdict: A solid issue and a good jumping-on point.
Kyle’s unfinished business
The issue strings together a pile of emotional and relationship beats that have sat unresolved for years. Kyle and Jade decide to be a couple again. Kyle also sits down with his ex-girlfriend Soranik for the first time since 2018.
Kyle has a lot of messy, emotional relationship dynamics in play right now, and I hope we get to watch them play out over the next few issues.
The new Black Hand
Then comes the reveal of Alex DeWitt as the new Black Hand, which lands hard if you know that Alex has been dead since Green Lantern #54 in 1994.
A lot in one issue
It packs a lot in. We get the setup for the next arc and a recap of the events of the Green Lantern Corps book. The issue opens with an info dump that catches new readers up, and Jeremy Adams might be wrapping up around issue 50 (that’s a guess on my part), which makes this a good place to hop on.
Some people won’t like the last page. I can see why, but it didn’t bother me.
Up next: the new arc.

Absolute Green Lantern #20 Review
Absolute Green Lantern #20 is slower than I expected, and I didn't mind at all. After Ewing constantly throwing lore at me, a breather is nice.

Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 1 Review: Green Lantern as Cosmic Horror
Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay drop the space cops and turn Green Lantern into sci-fi horror about a universe that doesn't care about us. It's a great read.
